Algunas características del florecimiento del fitoplancton en el frente del Río de la Plata. I. Los sistemas nutritivos OceanDocs
Negri, R.M.; Carreto, J.I.; Benavides, H.R..
During the spring (H-04/82: october 11-27, 1982)carried out by the Fishery Research Vessel "Dr.E.Holmberg", the distribution of temperature, salinity, nutrients concentration and photosynthetic pigments were studied at the "Rio de la Plata" maritime front. The presence of Sub-Tropical coastal waters in only station did not allow its characterization. Low Chlorophyll a concentration were noted, in association with scarce concentrations of nutrients and high Margalef index values.

Respuesta de la diatomea Actinocyclus normanii Hustedt, a las variaciones en la densidad celular inicial, concentración de salinidad, silicato y fosfato en condiciones de laboratorio OceanDocs
Sánchez, G.E.; Morales, E.; Guillot, G.; Vidal, L.A..
Microalgae are important for the restoration of coastal lagoon ecosystems affected by human activities because they are useful indicators of variations of salinity and levels of nutrients such as silicate and phosphate in the water column. With the centric diatom Actinocyclus normanii from Ciénaga Grande de Santa Marta (Colombian Caribbean) we conducted several experiments to evaluate the responses of this species at three levels of salinity (0, 15 and 25) and two initial densities (100 and 800 cells·ml-1) to nine treatments combining several concentrations of phosphate (0, 1,5 and 3,0 µmol·l-1) and silicate (10, 150 and 300 µmol·l-1). All treatments were maintained with light intensity of 57,9 mE-2·seg-1, photoperiod of 12:12 hrs, temperature between 22...

Silicate diagenesis in deep-sea sediments from the Tonga forearc (SW Pacific): a strontium and Rare Earth Elements signature ArchiMer
Vitali, F; Blanc, Gerard; Toulkeridis, T; Stille, P.
Sr-87/Sr-86 isotopic ratios, strontium and Rare Earth Element concentrations obtained on volcano-sedimentary rocks and separated clay mineral and zeolite fractions reveal a formation by pore water-volcanic rock interaction for most of the hydrous silicate minerals of the Site 841 ODP collected from the Tonga forearc. Unusual strontium concentrations and isotopic ratios recorded in the Miocene tuffs associated with specific REE patterns indicate that the formation of these hydrous silicates does not follow a simple burial diagenesis model, but was related to the cooling of intruding basaltic sills in the Miocene volcano-sedimentary series. Migration of strontium into the pore water in response to the heat flow induced the formation of Sr-bearing zeolites...

Tomato post-harvest durability and physicochemical quality depending on silicon sources and doses Horticultura Brasileira
Marodin,Josué C; Resende,Juliano TV; Morales,Rafael GF; Faria,Marcos V; Trevisam,Anderson R; Figueiredo,Alex ST; Dias,Diego M.
ABSTRACT This study aimed to investigate the effect of silicon (Si) sources and doses on the physicochemical quality as well as post-harvest conservation of tomato fruits. Treatments were arranged in a 3 x 5 factorial scheme corresponding to sources {calcium silicate, potassium silicate and sodium silicate} and five doses of Si (equivalent to 0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 kg/ha SiO2). Randomized blocks were the experimental design, with four replications. Soluble solids, vitamin C, lycopene, titratable acidity, mature fruit firmness, initial firmness, firmness half-life, time until reaching firmness equivalent to 3.0 x 104 N/m2 and 2.0 x 104 N/m2 and Si content in fruits were evaluated. Soluble solids, vitamin C and lycopene of fruits increased with increasing...
